Additional Reading List

An earlier blog post, The Classics of Marxism-Leninism, discussed recommending others to study the most important communist texts for ideological development. In this post another list of readings are recommended that are helpful in deepening one's ideological understanding of key events in the 20th century and US imperialism in general. Consider recommending them to your friends and acquaintances who are interested in studying these topics.

First of all, here are several important texts that combat anti-communist propaganda and discuss socialist states:

Lies Concerning the History of the Soviet Union, by Mario Sousa.

Another View of Stalin, by Ludo Martens.

Socialism Betrayed: Behind the Collapse of the Soviet Union, by Roger Keeran and Thomas Kenny.

George Orwell: Anti-communist Propagandist, Champion of Trotskyism and State Informer, by Joti Brar.

Blackshirts and Reds: Rational Fascism and the Overthrow of Communism, by Michael Parenti.

Crossing the River: A Memoir of the American Left, the Cold War, and Life in East Germany
, by Victor Grossman.

Secondly, here is a list of important anti-imperialist books:

Killing Hope: U.S. Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II, by William Blum.

To Kill a Nation: The Attack on Yugoslavia
, by Michael Parenti.

Afghanistan - Washington's Secret War, by Phillip Bonosky.

Note that some of these are available online for free, while others are not. Links are provided to both the free content and to Amazon.com where the non-free readings can be bought.
